Domestic Competitions

  • 1. Easter Cricket Cup
    The Easter Cup (formerly the Crompton Cup) is the national competition which sees the participation of all Cricket Fiji’s affiliated Associations. Invitational teams also take part upon invitation from Cricket Fiji. This is the end-of-season tournament and is usually held over the Easter Weekend. The tournament usually sees a lot of fun fare as traditional rivalries are also witnessed outside the field. This tournament is also used as a platform to select national teams (Senior and Age group Male and Female) preparing for regional and international engagements in the June – October international tournament window.
  • 2. Super 8 Tournament 

he Super 8 Tournament was launched on 29 July 2024 at Suva’s Albert Park. The tournament aims to strengthen our domestic Men’s competition and keep our Associations actively engaged throughout the year. This will be an additional tournament to the annual Easter Tournament. 

  • 3.National Women’s Tournament

The inaugural National Women’s tournament was held in April 2022 as a platform to promote women’s cricket in Fiji. The inaugural tournament was supported through a grant from the Pacific Leveraging and Legacy fund that was established by the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT); to support the International Cricket Council (ICC) Pacific members celebrate and leverage the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup hosted in New Zealand from March to April 2022.

The objective of this tournament is to provide a pathway for young girls playing in our junior programs that there is a pathway from their competition to Women’s Club competition right to this National competition. The tournament is premised on the understanding that it will inspire young girls while watching their peers play at national level.

  • 4. Women’s League

The women’s league is played by 12 clubs registered in Suva and Nadi respectively. There are a total of 8 teams in Suva and 4 in Nadi; playing in a weekly competition from November – February. The league provides a linkage from the age group competitions (U14 and U19) to senior club level competition. 

5. Fiji Secondary Schools U19 Cricket Competition [FSSCC]

Cricket Fiji facilitates an open age grade competition however below the age of 19 for Secondary schools for both male and female cricketers. This competition at the moment is held in the Southern and Western zones of Viti Levu, the main island on Fiji. The male U19 tournament was revived in 2020 after a lapse of 6 years and was abruptly ended on the eve of the semifinals due to Covid-19. The tournament started again in 2022 with 14 teams; 8 from the Southern Zone and 6 from the West.

Marist Brothers High School won the 2022 Southern Zone FSSCC and as winners they get to host the ICC T20 World Cup Trophy during its Fiji leg of the tour in September 2022. Sangam SKMC being winners of the Western Zone get to host the T20 World Cup trophy when it landed in Nadi before it travelled to Suva.  

The women’s U19 was also held in 2022 after a lapse of 6 years. The competition saw the participation of 14 teams; 8 from the Southern Zone and 6 from the West. Adi Cakobau School won the Southern Zone competition while Sri Vivekanand College won the Western Zone competition.

6. Fiji Primary Schools U14 Cricket Competition [FPSCC]

The Fiji Primary Schools U14 Cricket Competition continues in 2022 after the lifting of sports restriction brough about by Covid-19. The competition is usually held at District levels in the following Districts;

  1. 1.Nadi [12 schools];
  2. 2.Tailevu North [8 schools];
  3. 3.Tailevu South [8 schools]; and
  4. 4.Suva/Nasinu/Naitasiri [12 schools].

This tournament is usually held in Term 3 of the Ministry of Education academic year and is an open age grade competition for both males and females under the age of 14. Most of the schools have a male and female team and this doubles up the number of teams playing in a District competition.

There are plans to have these as an annual competition for schools in our affiliated Associations.
