The Suva Women’s T20 League is poised to commence its fourth-round at Albert Park tomorrow. A total of eight teams are vying for the coveted main prize. Among these are the Black Ducks from Serua, Northland Blaze from Tailevu North, Nausori Majidez, Sarafui Sinas, Komo Queens, Moce, Ono-i-Lau Sixers, and the ever-improving Veiyasana Stars.
After the initial three rounds, the Sarafui Sinas is the only unbeaten team, and is on track for an undefeated streak in the league. The 2023/24 league has been structured to serve as a vital platform to prepare the National Women’s team for its upcoming participation in the Pacific Cup in Auckland, New Zealand from 15 to 22 January 2024.
The fourth and fifth rounds of the league are set to take place this week on Wednesday and Friday, to decide which teams move to the finals which is scheduled for Saturday 6 January 2024.
Majority of players are under the age of 20 and this has intensified the competition especially with the selection for the U19 women’s team to the EAP qualifier next year. This has complemented the Suva Women’s T20 League as the stage that consistently showcases the youthful talents within all participating teams. In aligning to Cricket Fiji’s vision, the league continues to play a vital role in contributing to the development and promotion of women’s cricket in Fiji.
