Cricket for Good – Community Adolescent Health and Wellbeing Program

A Train the Trainer Workshop for an exciting pilot collaboration in cricket and reproductive health was facilitated at the DMO Central Conference Room, Tamavua this week. Facilitated by our partner from the University of Technology Sydney, the program is supported by Cricket Fiji, TeamUp and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). This program is also supported by the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Ministry of Youth and Sport Fiji and the Reproductive and Family Health Association of Fiji (RFHAF).

The program will use a Sport 4 Development Model for adolescents aged 10-15 years. Each session will include time to learn cricket skills and time to discuss health and wellbeing topics including sexual and reproductive health. This pilot program will be conducted in two communities in Suva during the August Term 2 school holidays (6 days). Each community will have two peer educators and two cricket youth coaches to facilitate these sessions.
