The 2022/2023 Suva Women’s League ended with the final between the 2022 Champion Koroni and Sarafui Sinas on 4 February 2023 at Albert Park, Suva. Sarafui Sinas was the dark horse of this season’s league being the only unbeaten side going into the final. The 2 teams were in fact in the same pool with Sarafui defeating Koroni by 7 wickets in the pool rounds.

The final started well for Koroni who opted to bat first after winning the toss, and scored 125 runs with a fall of 4 wickets. Needing 126 runs to win, Sarafui Sinas then batted and scored 81 runs all out. Good bowling stats by Koroni’s captain Melaia Biu taking 5 wickets for 11 runs. Koroni managed to retain the Cup they won last year by 44 runs.

Congratulations to both teams for a match worthy of a final with good display of batting, bowling and fielding.

The presentation of awards at the end of the final also coincided with the announcement of the National women’s team to the inaugural Pacific Island Cricket Challenge (PICC). The PICC is co-hosted by Cricket Fiji and the Australian Defence Force Cricket from 11 -18 March 2023 at Suva’s Albert Park.
