FIRST HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

Cricket Fiji will end its first High Performance Program today with a center wicket practice session with all of its participants. The week-long program aimed at students who are currently on school holidays will conclude today.

Participants went through the fundamentals of Batting; the Set-Up, and the different types of shots in cricket. This is something that our national teams have been failing over the years. On Wednesday and Thursday they went through the techniques of Fast bowling and Spin bowling.

The main purpose of this program is primarily to prepare our elite players for their foundation of their skills and knowledge of the game. The turn out and interest from the students has been overwhelming, and Cricket Fiji will have a follow on program to monitor the effectiveness of this High Performance Program. This is also in preparation for the Under 19 Womens T20 World Cup Qualifier that will be held next year.

For us to perform in the International level, Cricket Fiji will need to invest in our children and semi-elite players with such programs aimed at uplifting and fine tunning their skills in Batting, Bowling, Fielding and Wicket Keeping.

The program will end today with a center wicket session before school starts next week.
