The inaugural T40 League, a collaborative effort between Cricket Fiji, Suva Cricket Association and SportsWorld, concluded with the Plate and Cup Finals at Bidesi Park today. This tournament aligns perfectly with Cricket Fiji’s mission to enhance the quality of domestic cricket and with the hope of eventually replicating this success on the international stage.

During the event, Mr. Vinod Kumar, General Manager of SportsWorld, emphasized that this marked the first-ever tournament partnership between SportsWorld, Cricket Fiji and Suva Cricket. He also acknowledged the remarkable increase in support from cricket enthusiasts. Mr. Sumanta Rout the President of Suva Cricket expressed his gratitude to Cricket Fiji and SportsWorld for their support in making this event a reality. CF Board Director Sunia Digova was also present and highlighted the importance of aligning our competitions with ICC requirements.

The Plate was claimed by Wardens, the newest addition to the SCA League after securing a narrow victory over BSP winning by 2 runs. The Cup Final was dominated by the Army team defeating Police by 63 runs. Despite both teams fielding national representatives, there’s still more work to be done as they prepare for the annual Sukuna Bowl Cricket which is scheduled for 28 November just two weeks away.
