Jenny Thompson’s “Her World Cricket Tour” reaches Fiji

Jenny Thompson visited Cricket Fiji today as part of “Her World Cricket Tour” journey which started in April 2023. Fiji is the 55th country she has visited and will travel to another 25 countries where women’s cricket is played. Originally from England, Jenny has called Adelaide, Australia her home for the past 17 years. Her goal during these visits is to join local teams, play, coach and mentor female cricketers while documenting her experiences in a book.

Jenny’s inspiring journey is not just about cricket; it’s also about making a positive impact on education through her Leg Before Wicket (LBW) Trust. The Trust provides educational opportunities and fosters brighter futures for aspiring students.

Jenny’s “Her World Cricket Tour” is about much more than just the sport. It embodies a quest for understanding, connecting and supporting others. Throughout her travels, she aims to learn about different cricket cultures, promote women’s cricket and explore ways to make a positive impact on players’ lives.

Her trip to Fiji will include visits to Adi Cakobau and Lelean Memorial School where she plans to share her story and conduct cricket clinics for their women’s team preparing for the Fiji Secondary School U19 Women’s cricket competition, commencing on Saturday 9 March 2024 at Albert Park. She will also visit Draiba and Veiuto Primary Schools to hold cricket clinics. Jenny will donate cricket gears and books during these visits. She will also join the U19 national women’s cricket squad during their training at Albert Park tomorrow, to share her experience as a cricket player, purpose of her tour and donate some gears. She will also be a guest on Fiji One’s Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning.

She will depart on Tuesday afternoon for Vanuatu, her next leg of the tour.
